Key Notes:

  • Solvent vapours may form explosive mixtures with air. Therefore ensure adequate ventilation during and after application of the adhesive, also during the drying process. Ideally, the adhesive is used in rooms equipped with an extraction system (e.g. spray booths). Smoking or welding is not allowed in the working area; this also includes adjoining rooms. Do not use near naked lights, open flames, gas ovens and cookers. Switch off electrical appliances early enough so that they have cooled down at the start of spraying work. Turn off electronic devices and weak-current installations. Avoid sparking by all means.
  • Make sure to read the application and safety instructions given in our Technical Data Sheet and Safety Data Sheet.

Surface preparation:

The surfaces to be joined must have good accuracy of fit and must be free of grease, load-bearing and clean.

Adhesive application:

Always apply a thin, uniform layer on both surfaces to be joined. After evaporation of the solvents, a clearly visible film must remain on the surface. If necessary, apply several coats of adhesive on highly absorbent materials.

Application temperature:

Apply the adhesive at room temperature (approx. 18°-25°C). Avoid temperatures below +15°C.

Open time:

Before joining the parts, allow the solvents to evaporate. This takes approx. 15 min. at normal room temperature. The adhesive film must feel dry to the touch. After evaporation, bonding is possible within 2 hours (open time).

Not the duration but the intensity of pressure (compressive force) is essential for the final bonding strength. Only seconds are required.

Contact pressure:

Minimum pressure 0.5 N/mm² = 5 kp/cm². Carefully align the parts to be joined, then press from the centre outwards to avoid trapping air. Finally, use the Pattex Pressure Roller to roll vigorously over the bond.

250-350 g/m² (two-sided application)
